This collection focuses on the pastoral and medical care for pupils and staff at Oakham School.

This includes a sub-series donated by Jane Matthews, the first female deputy head of the school. Her collection contains minute and administrative documents relating to maternity leave, girl boarding and tutorials.

Particular strengths of the collection are the patient books in PMC/2. There are record collated by the sanitorium and subsequent medical centre, as well as accident diaries and medical administrative documents.

This file contains various resources and teaching material related to Drugs Education and Sex Education in schools. It is thought that some of those resources were used in tutorial or in houses to educate pupils.

The items in this collection are related to Tutoring at Oakham School, either guidelines to staff or resources to use in tutorial with the pupils.

A booklet giving advice to Upper School tutors on how to talk to their tutees about sex and relationships. Covers topics such as consent, rights, responsibilities, allegations of rape, STIs, contraception, facts and figures, sexting, pornography and indecent photographs.

A booklet for Form 3 pupils with various challenges inside which form part of wellbeing such as performing random acts of kindness, reading a book for pleasure and being screen-free for 24 hours.

A booklet aimed at Lower School tutors, detailing the tutorial programme of the year, containing various essential points to cover in First and Second forms, guidance on bullying, healthy eating, road safety, stranger danger, sex, smoking, alcohol, drugs, and listing reference videos and books.

A sheet of paper explaining two activities aiming at informing young people on safe sex and evaluating their level of knowledge on HIV & AIDS. Contents: Introduction, Preparation and Material, Method, Processing, What do we already know.

Guidelines on the Tutorial system at Oakham School, presented to a staff seminar on 24 June 1986 by the Headmaster, Graham Smallbone. The paper discusses safeguarding and pastoral issues that might be encountered and mentions what is expected of a tutor and how they should behave. The four pages are numbered A to D.
