Items have been acquired from many different sources over several years. Some collections have been donated by Henry Blagg.

Content and structure area

Scope and content

A collection which charts the various societies and activities available to pupils at Oakham School. Documents include photographic records and correspondence for different societies. Topics include chess, CCF/OTC, scouts, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Oligoi , Exploratory Society, and trips and expeditions.

The multiple series contain administrative documents for the various societies and certain series, such as Duke of Edinburgh Award and CCF/OTC have excellent photographic record of formal or informal events.

There is a particularly detailed series on Chess and the event of Gary Kasparov's visit to the school.

There is a good collection of shooting medals and trophies, kindly donated by Henry Blagg.

As far as is recorded, these items are fully appraised into the collection.

Accruals

Accruals are expected into this collection, particularly for the series CCF, OTC, and Scouts, Duke of Edinburgh, and ephemera.

System of arrangement

This sub-fonds is split into 14 series, each of which are composed of several files. Due to the nature of collecting, material has been ordered according to theme and date of acquisition. ACS/3/3, being donated by one individual, has been kept in the order which it was donated to the archives in. Any digital files are stored in folders that replicate the series arrangement.
