A collection of photographs and other documents relating to the history of the Art and Design buildings. On 25th April 2009, the Jerwood School of Design was officially opened, even though it had been in use since September 2008 by teachers and pupils. It was built on the site of maintenance yard garages, adjacent to the Sports Hall.

This collection contains material relating to the history of the houses and their pupils. Each series is focused on a different house and many contain rich and detailed photographic records of houses year by year. Some houses are more detailed than others.

Other highlights of this collection include house handbooks, which help to induct a pupil into a house and its daily routine; photographs of daily life, including house events and leisure time; and administrative documents such as house diaries which record the calendar of house events, achievements of pupils, and accounts of incidents.

Included in this sub-fonds are houses which are no longer in existence such as Johnsons and Ruddles.

This series focusses on the history of Oakham School Nursery, established for staff children. Most of the items are photographs from 1987 to 2001, when the Nursery was closed.

This series focusses on the headmastership of Oliver Richard Sylvester Bull (1977-1984) and contains items relating to the life at School in the 1970s and 1980s, its staff and pupils. One of the files relates to Michael Stevens as Acting Headmaster for two terms in 1985.

This sub-series focuses on the history of the 1993 Organ in the School Chapel. After the 1930 organ expired and was replaced by a computer organ in the 1980s, the headmaster Graham Smallbone commissioned for a new organ to be built. Some items highlight the various proposals, the correspondence focuses on the building and installation of the organ and the photographic file finally shows the organ in Chapel.

A photographic file recording the girls in Stevens over one academic year, from 1994 to 1995. The photographs are the profile photographs of the girls, as well as formal and informal photographs of the Fifth and Sixth form girls. The photographs were initially gathered in a photo album.

This file focusses on photographs of the Art block and the Design & Technology Centre in the 1970s.
